An Open source coder called Fabrice Bellard has unveiled a PC emulator written in Javascript, capable of creating a virtual machine a web browser.
Fabrice is no stranger to releasing exciting open source projects, including starting the popular FFMPEG project. In the demonstration on the PC emulator on his website, Fabrice shows the ability to run a specially stripped down version of Linux straight from the browser.
The project is currently more “proof of concept”, with he says he just did for fun – but it’s incredible just chat can be achieved using the JavaScript engines in modern web browsers.
