NETWORK TOOLS
MAC address lookup
Find the manufacturer behind any MAC address, see what kind of device it’s likely to be, and check whether it’s a randomised or virtual address.
Accepts any format: 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E, 00-1A-2B-3C-4D-5E, 001a.2b3c.4d5e or 001A2B3C4D5E. The first 6 characters are enough to find the manufacturer.
What it shows
The company the address is registered to, from the official IEEE registry, plus the kinds of devices that manufacturer makes, the address type and the same MAC in every common format.
When to use it
Identifying an unknown device on your network or Wi-Fi, matching entries in a switch, router or DHCP table, or checking what’s behind an address in a firewall log.
No manufacturer found?
Phones and laptops now use randomised (private) MAC addresses on Wi-Fi, which hide the manufacturer. Virtual machines and some specialist devices use unregistered addresses too.
